The consumer credit math inherent in lending calculations can
perplex even the keenest computer programmers when they haven't
been exposed to its controlling concepts and background. The 50
state consumer credit laws and regulations are a dissimilar
patchwork of varying scope, level of detail, and inconsistent
interpretation. The mission of the Carleton Research
Department is to bring insight into bridging these two areas in
order to produce accurate lending calculations that are always
in compliance.
The Carleton Research Department is an integral part of the
after-sale support of any Carleton product or service. When
questions arise about how specific amounts are calculated, the
concept behind credit insurance coverage, refund amounts, or
any other lending calculation or disclosure, the Research
Department will assist with verbal, written, and/or graphic
explanations and illustrations.
Carleton served on the FRB's Advisory Board during the
creation of Regulation Z so we understand Truth-in-Lending.
Our calculation expertise is valued enough that a dozen state
credit administrators use custom software we designed for their
examinations. When it comes to credit insurance premium and
refund calculations, nobody has more experience and expertise
than our Research Department.
We try to share the knowledge we have accumulated through
"white paper" type reports on subjects like time
counting calendars, payment calculations, APR calculations,
credit insurance premium calculations with balloon payment
loans, and a host of other topics. Our goal is to promote
better understanding of the industry in which we work through
the sharing of information.
